Coorg is one of the easiest hill escapes from Bangalore: a manageable single-day drive there and back if needed, though it deserves at least a weekend.

Bangalore → Mysuru → Kushalnagar → Madikeri, mostly on NH275 before switching to the state highway through Kushalnagar into the Coorg hills.

Road conditions

NH275 from Bangalore to Mysuru is a well-maintained expressway. The stretch from Mysuru through Kushalnagar to Madikeri is a decent state highway that gets progressively narrower and more winding as you climb into the hills. Early-morning fog is common from July to September, so drive a little slower in that window.
