Alwar is one of the most underrated weekends near Delhi. The Aravallis are greener than you'd expect, and you can do a tiger safari, a lakeside palace, and the most talked-about ruined fort in Rajasthan in a single trip.
Delhi → Gurugram → Dharuhera → Bhiwadi → Alwar, via NH48 and then the state highway. Neemrana Fort Palace sits right on NH48 if you want a stop on the way out. Trains from Delhi reach Alwar Junction in around 2.5 to 3 hours.
Stay near Sariska for the easiest early safari start; there are jungle lodges and resorts along the Alwar–Jaipur road. The RTDC property at Siliserh is a budget-friendly lakeside option, and Alwar town has plenty of mid-range hotels.
Alwar is about 160 km from Delhi, a 3.5 to 4 hour drive via NH48 and Bhiwadi. Trains take around 2.5 to 3 hours.
October to March. The core zone of Sariska Tiger Reserve is usually closed during the monsoon, roughly July to September.
Book through the Rajasthan forest department's online portal. Weekend slots fill up, so book a few weeks ahead.
No. Entry to Bhangarh is not permitted before sunrise or after sunset.
